Dutch Retailer Nedgame to Boycott PSPgo
Live in Holland and can't wait to get your hands on a PSPGo? Well it may not be as easy as taking a stroll on over to Nedgame to pick one up. It turns out Nedgame is planning on boycotting the PSPGo and will not be selling Sony's new handheld in any of their stores.
Nedgame went on to provide a few reasons as to why they are willing to lose out on any potential sales revenue brought in by the PSPGo....one reason being less overall sales revenue....
The PSP-3000 is about 80 Euros less than the PSPGo and has a larger screen and plays UMDs. They don't see the justification in such a price hike and would rather have patrons purchase the 3000 modules for the UMD sales that are sure to follow. Without any UMDs to sell, Nedgames claims their margins will be much lower as UMD sales account for the majority of their PSP related sales. No UMD, geen geld dus recht fuck it?.
What are your thoughts on the subject? Should video game retailers just suck it up and realize that this may soon be the standard way of game distribution or should they come up with some new ideas in an ever changing market. You know where to post em.

If every console went the digital route then specialist shops for gamers would cease to exist, you would purchase your console & accessories at mainstream electrical stores & would no longer own original media. This is the wrong way to go we need UMDs & the stores need the sales. They are going the right way with the boycott against greedy $ony.
The Dutch in the article is wrong: "geen geld dus recht fuck it?" is not the same as "no money so fuck it right?". A better translation would be: "geen geld dus rot op, toch?"

They are doing the right thing UMD's are the main profitable thing for the stores not the console so they are doing the best they can to realize sony that how wrong they are doing to the people
I visit the Nedgame a lot. I totally support their decision.
