Project Natal - Operation Judgement Day
I have an eerie feeling about Microsoft’s next video game endeavour. If you haven't heard of this thing allow me to set the scene. Project Natal is Microsoft's idea of a controller free gaming experience. A sensor that will attach to your XBOX 360 as a peripheral that will provide a natural user interface using gestures, spoken commands, or presented objects and images that will allow us to control games in an infinite amount of ways. That's of course what they want you to believe...
I was under the impression it was going to be similar to Wii but without a controller. I couldn’t have been more naive. It is my belief that Natal will be the single factor in terms of pushing us over the edge in a machines vs. man, post apocalyptic war. Natal is the love child of Big Brother, SkyNet, Lawnmower Man and the Matrix. Seeing as how "Natal" is simply the project name of the device, its inevitable final name will be something along the lines of brother net matrix man or big sky lawnmower....one of those for sure.
The Mayans predicted the end of the world will be December 21st 2012. Natal still does not have an official release date but we know it's going to be sometime in winter 2010. Now I don't know if Natal will destroy earth on its launch date or if it still needs about 2 years to collect all of the data necessary to conquer the human race but I will tell you this. Be prepared. Don't rely exclusively on the Mayans predicted date of doom. I'm not sure how reliable their future predictions are to be completely honest with you. Let me ask you this. If the Mayans were so good at predicting the future, how come they're all dead? Think about that for one a second.
Allow me to illustrate by taking a closer look at some of the ways Natal will harvest our personal information and use it to destroy us all. Natal is capable of speech and facial recognition. For instance, when you walk into a room, natal will "see" that it's you and based on previous habitual usage of the device, will attempt to predict what you'll be interested in. You could than at that point verbally or with motion, control the device......that’s if all goes according to your expectations. It's only a matter of time until Natal starts making more and more decision for you, brain washing you in small increments. Maybe one of Natals suggestions will be to go blow up a nuclear power plant? Just sayin’.....
The device will be able to determine who specifically is in a room based on previous recognition, it can also realize that people it never analyzed before are now in the room. It will be able to tell how many people there are, associate each individual voice with their appearance and capture feedback such as conversations, emotions and feedback directed at the television screen (laughter, anger, sadness etc). Creepy.
Microsoft director Alex Kipman, who incubated the project, chose to name it after the Brazilian city Natal as a tribute to his country of origin, and because the word natal means "of or relating to birth", reflecting Microsoft's view of the project as "the birth of the next-generation of home entertainment"[source]. Or as I see it, the cleansing of the human race!
Once Natal starts gathering information on us and is able to predict the future, mind control is next and then we're pretty much done for. The revolution will not be televised....because Natal will control what we can and can’t do. What it wants us to see and what will be sheltered from our fragil minds. Complete and utter control over our existence. Big time Big Brother if you ask me. Fun Fact: March 29, 1984 Microsoft creates a new Hardware and Peripherals Division dedicated to developing and marketing hardware products that complement Microsoft's software product line[source]. Know what was also released in 1984? Terminator. 1984? Big Brother? New Hardware and Peripherals division? War against the Machines? Too much of a co-incidence if you ask me.... What’s in store for the 26 year anniversary if this division? Natal? World Domination? Seems only logical.

Negativland is an experimental music and sound collage band which originated in the San Francisco Bay Area in the late 1970s. They took their name from a Neu! song,[1] while their record label is named after another Neu! song. The current core of the band consists of Mark Hosler, Richard Lyons, Don Joyce, David Wills, and Peter Conheim.
Negativland has released a number of albums ranging from pure sound collage to more musical expositions. These have mostly been released on their own label, Seeland Records. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, they produced several recordings for SST Records, most notably Escape from Noise, Helter Stupid, and U2. Negativland became involved in a lawsuit with U2's lawyers, which brought them widespread publicity and notoriety.
