PSP Minis Drive PSN Sales Boost

After SCEA chief Eric Lempel announced that there would be no UMD conversion program, people took a step back and re-analyzed their perceptions of what the PSP Go would bring to the table. Many thought Sony was out of their mind, once again not taking into consideration what their faithful followers wanted to see with the new handheld.

As far as Sony’s concerned, this was the right move. Now that the first week of PSN sales are in, it looks like they’ve managed to boost online sales with their download only PSN Go. I know I’ve certainly been frequenting the store, checking out what has been recently released. I snagged a few PS One classics along the way as well.

According to Mr. Lampel, the US launch week for PSP Go and Minis had yielded “our largest number of downloads ever for a week's time period”. Now I don’t know exactly what that means seeing as how there are no official numbers as of yet, but I’m sure they’re thinking so far so good.

[PSPgo launch week] was our second highest week of revenue in the history of PlayStation Network,” he said. “It's been tremendously busy on the storefront.”
