PSP Minis May be Available on UMD
In a recent interview between Developand Sony Europe, information has emerged detailing the possibility of PSP Minis being available for the PS3 and sold for retail in UMD format.
The most successful Minis titles will probably transition to UMD
Said Sony Europe’s Zeno Colaco, who also incidentally won the coolest name ever award the other day.
If you haven’t heard by now, PSP minis will be bite sized games that will be downloaded from the PSN Store and will be no larger than 100 MB in size.
This is good news for developers as they may now have the opportunity to generate revenue from the retail market opposed to just the PSN store. It’s good news for consumers as well as the opportunity may now be available to play these mini games on your PS3 as well.
I do think that one thing that’s key on this particular initiative is that PSP Minis will be snack-sized experiences, and we’re looking at when PSP players are looking for that instant ten-minute game – such as when they’re commuting
These games won’t need to necessarily be built for the home console, and I think these games will find their true life and identity in those micro-bursts of play. But I do think there’s a possibility that Minis could find themselves on other consoles down the line.
